Frequently asked questions

General

Your membership combines three layers of protection:

  • Cyber Cover – financial protection and assistance for covered cyber incidents, online scams, fraud, cyber extortion, identity theft, cyberbullying (in the Family plan) and other eligible events.
  • Identity Monitoring – continuous monitoring of your personal information, including Dark Web Monitoring, to help alert you to potential identity theft.
  • Identity Restoration – access to specialists who can help to restore your identity and guide you through recovery if your identity is compromised.

Criminals increasingly target people through phishing, online scams, account takeovers, identity theft, cyber extortion and data breaches. WebScannerPro helps you detect threats early, recover faster, and reduce the financial impact of an incident.

Who is covered depends on your chosen plan. Individuals protect a single member, while family plans cover two adults and up to 6 children (aged up to 24yrs).

Cover starts once your account and plan are activated, and your information has been enrolled.

Cyber Cover

Cyber Cover provides financial protection and professional support for eligible cyber incidents, such as online scams, cyber extortion, cyberbullying, and identity theft, subject to your membership terms and coverage limits.

Covered incidents depend on your membership and may include online scams, cyber extortion, identity theft, cyberbullying, account compromise, and other eligible cyber events described in your policy.

Stop communicating with the scammer, avoid sending additional money, contact your bank or payment provider immediately, secure affected accounts, and notify support as soon as possible.

Coverage depends on your membership, the type of scam, and the policy terms. Review your coverage documents or contact support for assistance with your specific situation.

Cyber extortion occurs when someone demands money or another benefit by threatening to release personal information, sensitive files, or private images, or by threatening to compromise your digital accounts or devices.

No. Paying does not guarantee the threat will stop or that your information will remain private. Preserve evidence, avoid further communication, and contact support or law enforcement.

Contact our support team or visit the Claims section, available in the website footer and the Summary of Benefits. We’ll guide you through the claims process and explain what information is needed to assess your claim.

Cyberbullying and online harm

Cyberbullying is repeated harmful behavior carried out through digital platforms such as social media, messaging apps, email, online forums, or gaming services. It can include harassment, threats, humiliation, or sharing harmful content.

Cyberbullying includes abusive messages, threats, impersonation, spreading rumors, sharing private information or images without consent, online harassment, exclusion from online communities, and repeated unwanted contact.

Online harm refers to digital activities that negatively affect someone’s safety, privacy, reputation, or emotional wellbeing. This may include cyberbullying, harassment, impersonation, scams, stalking, or non-consensual sharing of personal content.

If you have a Family plan, you’re covered and can access professional counseling services as part of your membership.

Avoid responding to the offender. Save evidence, block the account where appropriate, report the behavior to the platform, and contact support if your membership includes cyberbullying assistance. If you believe you’re in immediate danger, contact local law enforcement.

Stay calm and encourage your child to talk openly. Save evidence, report the content, block the offender when appropriate, and work with the school or platform if needed. Professional support may also be available through your membership.

Report the fake account to the platform immediately. Keep screenshots and any related evidence. If the account is being used for fraud or harassment, report it to law enforcement and contact support if covered under your membership.

Cyberstalking is repeated unwanted online behavior intended to intimidate, threaten, monitor, or harass another person. It may involve excessive messages, tracking, impersonation, or repeated contact across multiple platforms.

Doxing is the publication or sharing of someone’s private or personally identifiable information online without their consent, often to intimidate, harass, or encourage others to target them.

Document the content, report it to the website or platform, request removal where possible, and avoid engaging with the individual responsible. If your safety is at risk, contact law enforcement.

Save evidence, report the content immediately, request removal from the platform, and avoid contacting the offender. If the content is intimate or involves a minor, report it to law enforcement as soon as possible.

Support may assist by providing guidance, helping you understand available reporting options, and working with content removal providers where included in your membership. Removal cannot always be guaranteed.

Depending on your membership, support may help you report harmful content and guide you through platform removal processes. Final removal decisions are made by the platform or website hosting the content.

Encourage your child to stop interacting with the offender, save evidence, use in-game reporting and blocking tools, and review privacy settings. Contact support if additional guidance is available under your membership.

Take all threats seriously. Save evidence, avoid responding, report the threat to the platform, and contact local law enforcement immediately if you believe there is a credible risk to your safety.

Save screenshots, usernames, profile links, messages, emails, dates, times, and URLs. Avoid editing or altering the evidence, as it may be needed for investigations or claims.

No. Reporting content does not guarantee removal. Each platform applies its own policies and makes the final decision regarding reported content.

Yes. Cyberbullying can affect people of any age. Adults may experience online harassment through social media, email, messaging platforms, review sites, or workplace communication tools.

If you’re affected by cyberbullying, consider speaking with a trusted person or a qualified mental health professional. If you have a Family plan, you’re covered and can access professional counseling services as part of your membership.

Yes. Contact support if you’re unsure. A specialist can help assess the situation, explain available options, and recommend appropriate next steps.

Use strong privacy settings, limit the personal information you share publicly, think carefully before posting, block abusive users, and report harmful behavior promptly.

Identity Monitoring / DWM

Identity monitoring continuously checks for signs that your personal information has been exposed, leaked, or misused. If monitored information is detected, you’ll receive an alert with details and recommended next steps.

The dark web is a hidden part of the internet that isn’t indexed by search engines and requires specialized software to access. While it has legitimate uses, it’s also commonly used to buy, sell, and share stolen personal information.

Dark Web Monitoring scans known dark web sources for the personal information you choose to monitor, such as your email address or Social Security Number. If a match is found, you’ll receive an alert so you can take action quickly.

Depending on your plan, you can monitor information such as your email address, Social Security Number, passport, payment cards, and crypto address.

No. Dark Web Monitoring cannot prevent identity theft. It provides early warning when your information is exposed, giving you the opportunity to secure affected accounts and reduce the risk of fraud.

You’ll receive an alert describing what information was found, where it was detected if available, and recommended actions such as changing passwords, enabling multi-factor authentication, or monitoring your accounts.

Monitoring runs continuously. New data is checked regularly, and you’ll be notified whenever newly detected information matches the personal information you’re monitoring.

Personal information is most commonly exposed through data breaches, compromised accounts, malware infections, phishing attacks, or reused passwords. In many cases, the exposure occurred through a third party rather than directly from your devices.

Follow the recommended steps in your alert. This may include changing affected passwords, enabling multi-factor authentication, monitoring financial accounts, replacing compromised payment cards, or placing a fraud alert or credit freeze if appropriate.

No. An alert means your monitored information has been detected in a breach or another monitored source. It does not necessarily mean your identity has been stolen or that fraudulent activity has occurred. Monitoring allows you to respond before criminals can misuse your information.

Identity Restoration

Identity restoration provides professional assistance to help recover your identity after identity theft. Specialists guide you through restoring accounts, correcting records, and resolving fraud-related issues.

An identity restoration specialist can help you secure affected accounts, work with financial institutions and government agencies, dispute fraudulent activity, and guide you through the recovery process.

Identity monitoring alerts you when your information may be at risk. Identity restoration provides expert assistance after identity theft or fraud has occurred.

A dedicated specialist will guide and assist you throughout the recovery process, helping coordinate with organizations involved. Some actions may still require your authorization or participation.

Recovery time varies depending on the complexity of the case. Some issues can be resolved in days, while more complex identity theft cases may take weeks or months.

Eligibility depends on your membership and policy terms. Contact support to determine whether your incident qualifies for identity restoration services.
